Naruto

NarutoCoverTankobon1.jpg Naruto (NARUTO—ナルト—?, romanized as NARUTO) is an ongoing Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. The plot tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an adolescent ninja who constantly searches for recognition and aspires to become a Hokage, the ninja in his village who is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The series is based on a one-shot comic by Kishimoto that was published in the August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump.
The manga was first published by Shueisha in 1999 in the 43rd issue of Japan's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine. Currently, the manga is still being serialized; fifty-one tankōbon volumes have been released so far. The manga was later adapted into an anime, which was produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo network and the anime satellite television network Animax on October 3, 2002. The first series lasted 220 episodes, while Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel to the original series, has been airing since February 15, 2007. In addition to the anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed eight movies for the series and several original video animations (OVAs). Other types of merchandise include light novels, video games and trading cards developed by several companies.
Viz Media has licensed the manga and anime for North American production. Viz has been publishing the series in their Shonen Jump magazine, and as well as the individual volumes. The anime series began airing in the United States and Canada in 2005, and later in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2006 and 2007, respectively. The films, as well as most OVAs from the series, have also been released by Viz, with the first film premiering in cinemas. The first DVD volume of Naruto: Shippuden was released by Viz in North America on September 29, 2009, and it started broadcast on Disney XD in October of the same year.
Naruto is one of the best selling manga of all time having sold more than 100 million copies in Japan. Serialized in Viz's Shonen Jump magazine, Naruto has become one of the company's best-selling manga series. The English adaptation of the series has also appeared in the USA Today Booklist several times and volume 11 won the Quil Award in 2006. Reviewers from the series have praised the balance between fighting and comedy scenes, as well as the characters' personalities, but have criticized it for using standard shōnen plot elements.

Glee - Season 1, Episode 4 - Preggers

Glee - Preggers
Kurt joins the football team just to impress his father. Finn and Quinn's relationship get a shocking development. Rachel thinks her star is fading when Tina is given a better part during rehearsals which causes her to leave. Sue continues her schemes to dismantle the glee club.

Full Recap

The episode opens with Kurt recreating Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" video with friends Brit and Tina. All of a sudden the music cuts off; his father is home unexpectedly. Still trying to hide his homosexuality from his dad, he claims to be working on his conditioning because he's now the kicker on the football team. His father seems to buy his excuse and even asks for a ticket to Kurt's first game.

Meanwhile, Terri and Will are practising Lamaze with the help of Kendra. When she tries to show Will how to massage gas bubbles out of Terri's stomach, Terri freaks out saying she doesn't want Will to bruise the baby. She gets Will to leave the room by asking him to make her a BLT. Once he's gone, Terri admits to Kendra that she's not really pregnant. She decides she has to tell Will the truth, but Kendra tells her dishonesty is food for a marriage and will die without it. Kendra tells her all Terri needs to do is get a baby.

In the teacher's lounge, Emma tells the other faculty that Sue Sylvester has a new segment on the local news called "Sue's Corner". It's controversial to say the least, with her first broadcast advocating caning, but it nonetheless makes her a local celebrity.

At Glee practice, Rachel is very upset to find out Tina has received a solo from West Side Story and feels she's being punished, although Will claims he's just trying to shake things up. Rachel storms out of rehearsal. Afterward, Kurt asks Finn to help him try out for kicker on the football team. Kurt shows up in his usual flambouyant and starts dancing to "Single Ladies" in order to warm up. The football team laughs at him until he lands a long kick right between the goal posts.

The local station manager, Mr. McClung, expresses his concern to Sue that a lot of cheerleaders are defecting to the Glee club. Since Sue's segment is all about being a champion, he says she really needs the team to win nationals.

At school, Finn confronts Quinn about giving him the silent treatment and says he's sorry for whatever he may have done. She tearfully tells him that she's pregnant with his baby. Finn's confused because they've never had sex, but Quinn reminds him of an evening in a hot tub where Finn became a little too excited, and even though they still had their swimsuits on it was the perfect temperature to help sperm swim faster.

Sue visits Sandy at his home to offer him the Art Administrator position, including control of the Glee club. (She's blackmailed Principal Figgins with a demonstrational video she found of him for Mumbai Air in anti-clotting stockings.) Their first order to business is getting Rachel Berry out of the club; they lure her out with an audition for the musical Cabaret with the audition requirement of a Celine Dion song. They cast Rachel as the lead and she quits Glee. Will is understandably upset.

At rehearsal, Tina is singing her solo. Will thinks she's doing great but Tina isn't so sure. She tells Will to give the song to Rachel because she's better, and because Rachel will quit without it. Finn comes to rehearsal crying. Will takes him to dinner to discuss his problem. He tells Will he doesn't want to end up like other guys his age who became fathers; he needs to go to college to become something and the only way to do that is with a football scholarship. But the team is on a losing streak. Finn thinks that if Will helps the team with their moves, like he did when he and Puck were in Acafellas. If the football team can win one game the guys will start to trust Will and some of them will want to join the Glee club. It's win-win. At home, Will tells Terri about Finn's problem, which gives her an idea.

The football team doesn't like the idea of learning to dance, but the coach thinks it's a good idea so off to the choir room they go. When they're done Finn confides to Puck that Qinn is pregnant; Puck looks shocked. He immediately confronts Quinn and asks who the father was since she told him she was a virgin when they had sex. He tells Quinn he'll take care of her and the baby, but she tells him she only had sex with him because he got her drunk on wine coolers and felt fat that day; she doesn't want to be saddled with a "Lima loser".

Quinn runs to her car crying...where Terri is waiting for her.

At the football game that night, the team decides it would be too embarassing to dance and become even more of a joke than they already are, so they skip it and their game suffers for it; they're getting creamed. In the fourth quarter with just seconds to go Finn calls for a time-out. He tells Puck they have to dance. Puck refuses, saying they'll all be jokes for the rest of their high school lives. Finn tells him they're already jokes and he doesn't want to be a Lima loser for the rest of his life. This is enough to convince the team. On the next play, Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" starts blaring and the entire team does the dance from her video. They follow the dance with a spectacular play that earns them a touchdown, which ties the game. It all comes down to Kurt to win the game with the kick. With his father watching, he Beyoncé's his way to the ball and makes the kick, making him a hero. He's carried off the field by the other football players while Finn kisses Quinn. Puck watches them, then walks off the field by himself.

At home, Kurt's father tells him how proud he is and wishes Kurt's mother could have been there to see him play. Kurt says he's glad his father is proud but admits that he's gay. His father surprises him by telling him he already knows and while he's not thrilled about it he still loves Kurt very much. They embrace.

At school, Finn gives Quinn the baby blanket his father gave him when he was born and promises to be a good father to their baby. Puck interrupts their moment and starts giving Quinn a hard tim, telling her she's starting to get fat. Finn tells him to back off.

At Glee rehearsal, three football players have joined and Will decides to start the rehearsal with the solo from Westside Story. Rachel smiles expectantly until Will tells Tina to show them what she's got.

Rachel shows up to Cabaret rehearsal telling Sandy she's now exclusively in the show.

Glee - Season 1, Episode 3 - Acafellas

Glee - Acafellas

Will forms an acapella group and spends more time with them than he

does with New Directions after he is asked to perform at the PTA meeting with some surprising additions to his group. Meanwhile, Kurt is under pressure in his life which isn't helped by Mercedes new found interest in finding a relationship.

Full Recap

The episode begins with Will and Terri having dinner with Will's parents. Will can no longer contain his excitement about Terri's pregnancy and announces the news to his parents. His parents are thrilled about the news, but Terri is caught off guard and shocked because she thought they weren't going to tell anyone yet. She still hasn't told anyone that she actually is not pregnant. Will confesses to his father that he's terrified and his father says that his lack of confidence is his fault since boys learn that from their fathers. He tells Will about his dream of attending law school and how he didn't apply because he didn't have the balls to.
At glee practice, Will is choreographing a new routine when Rachel interrupts him. She tells him that his choreography sucks. Quinn and the other Cheerios had approached her earlier saying she had to do something about the choreography. Rachel tells Will that she doesn't think that they can compete with Vocal Adrenaline with the routines that they are doing. She thinks that if they hire Dakota Stanley, a choreographer that works with Vocal Adrenaline, that they might have a chance. Quinn then asks Will if he's performed… after high school. Will talks to Emma and says that he's always wanted to perform but he just never did. He also says he's nervous about being a dad and that he wants to set a good example for his kid. He thanks Emma for letting him unload and she says its fine since they're both in relationships now – Will with Terri and she with Coach Ken. She says that things are going well with Ken and that there's nothing sexier in a man than confidence.
Will enters the faculty lounge to find Sandy there. He thought that Sandy wasn't allowed on campus but Sandy clarifies that he's not allowed to be within 50 feet of children but he's there for the return of Henri, the shop teacher. He had returned after having an accident in wood shop and slicing off both of his thumbs. Howard, Terri's co-worker, arrives with a two thumbs up cake that Terri had baked for Henri's return. The boys sit around and talk to each other and after talking about their feelings they form a boy band – The Acafellas… but they don't let Sandy in the group because it's creepy. Will thinks that his being in a boy band was boosting his love life, but to Terri's disappointment she still wasn't pregnant.
Rachel tried to apologize to Will with cookies. She said that his absence at rehearsals has been a problem and Will gives them the go-ahead to hire Dakota Stanley. Finn is the only member of the group opposed to hiring Dakota. Will approaches Rachel about how she's been harder on him since their moment in the auditorium. She thinks she's still upset about what's happened, but Rachel says she's moved on and that its time to focus on her career and winning. Will doesn't believe her. Rachel says she knows that there's something between the two of them, and she knows Will has feelings for her, he just doesn't have the confidence to admit it. She says she's moving on and they're hiring Dakota and Finn threatens to quit.
The Cheerios check in with Sue in her office. Quinn says that Dakota will destroy the glee club since he's so harsh. Sue commends them for their work on bringing down glee club. Mercedes is a little sad that everyone around her seems to be in a couple and starts getting close to Kurt. Quinn sees this and encourages her to go for it. The Acafellas have a great performance at a bar and Will finally began to feel like a star. His father congratulates him and says they've already sold all the copies of the Acafellas' CDs. Principal Figgins loved the performance and wants the Acafellas to perform at the next PTA event. The local newspaper praised their performance as well. Sandy still wants in on the group. He tries to get into the group once again but saying that Josh Groban is coming to the PTA event – the two have been friends since Josh Groban accidentally friended him on MySpace. Once again, Will refuses to let him in.
The glee club goes to Vocal Adrenaline to talk to Dakota Stanley. Outside, they run into two members who say they shouldn't hire him because he's a monster. The Vocal Adrenaline time practice a very complex routine to "Mercy." Dakota Stanley says that his services cost $8000. The glee kids look distraught.
Will and Ken practice a new routine when Howard calls in to quit the group. Emma comes in to break the news that Henri had overdosed on cough syrup and that Sandy had taken him to the hospital and that he'll be entering rehab in the morning. Emma encourages Will and says he shouldn't give up hope. Finn comes into Will's office to tell him that he's quitting glee club. Finn and Puck both decide to join Acafellas. Puck is doing it because he thinks he has star potential…and for the cougars. Rachel and Tina have a gay-vention with Mercedes. They try to warn her that Kurt is gay and that she could do better but Mercedes rejects their advice. The Cheerios help out the glee club with a car wash fundraiser so that they could raise enough money to pay for Dakota's services. Mercedes asks Kurt if they can make it official that they're dating. Kurt says that he's in love with someone else, and Mercedes thinks its Rachel. Kurt doesn't deny it and she breaks his windshield with a rock. He asks how she could bust his window and Mercedes says that he busted her heart.
Dakota arrives for their first rehearsal together and hands out individual

instructions for dieting to everyone but the Cheerios on glee. He cuts Artie from the group because he's in a wheelchair. He says that the club lacks confidence. One by one, the glee members start to quit. Rachel tells everyone the story of Barbara Streisand, saying she defied advice she was given and became a star anyway. She thinks they can win because they are different. The Acafellas perform for the PTA meeting. Sandy is excited because Josh Groban actually showed up. Backstage, Josh Groban actually shows up and tells Sandy to stop emailing and calling and then serves him with a restraining order. He congratulates the other guys on a great performance. Will's father congratulates him again and asks where his mother is (off being hit on by Josh Groban). He also tells will that he's taken the first step and has registered for s and then eventually for law school. He says it's never too late to go after your dreams. Mercedes apologizes to Kurt for breaking his car windshield and that she hopes that things work out between Kurt and Rachel. Kurt musters up the courage to tell her that he's gay. Sue is not happy with the news that glee club is back together and stronger than ever. Quinn thanks Sue for teaching her a valuable life lesson – when you really believe in yourself, you don't have to bring other people down.

Glee Season 1, Episode 1 - Pilot

Glee - Pilot
Will Schuester, an optimistic high school teacher, tries to reinvent the McKinley High School's glee club, while reinventing himself. He challenges a group of outcasts to realize their true star potential, while facing harsh criticism from everyone in the school.

Full Recap
The show opens with a cheerleading squad performing a routine, it flashes to their coach who is timing them and asking if they think what they are doing is hard.
The Title flashes on the screen for a second and then a rundown blue car is seen driving through the parking lot, Mr. Schuester steps out and sees a bunch of football students harassing Kurt. He doesn't do anything, but tells Finn that his report on his summer activities is still late. As Kurt is being thrown into the trash can he complains that it will ruin his new collection Mark Jacob's jacket. Finn says "Wait," and instead of helping him holds his jacket as his teammates toss Kurt into the dumpster.
Mr. Schuester then admires the 1993 trophy for National Championship in Show Choir and is seen teaching a Spanish while Finn sits repeating the words and looking bored.
The school bell rings and Sandy Ryerson and a student are practicing "Where is Love?" Sandy begins to touch the stomach of the student as Rachel watches through a crack in the door.
A sign that says Coffee points at an ending machine as Coach Tanaka and Mr. Schuester talk about budget cuts. Then Sue walks in with lattes, Emma then takes gloves and clean wipes out with her lunch as her and Sue banter about cheerleaders going over budget with a nutritionist. Sue then leaves the room as Coach Tanaka questions Emma about a Singles Mixer. Emma cleans the table as she talks and complains that her number two fireman hasn't called. She looks adoringly upon Mr. Schuester as she talks about how Sandy Ryerson was fired. Mr. Schuester asks who will take over Glee Club.
The scene then goes to Mr. Figgins office, Mr. Schuester wishes to take over Glee Club, but the principal is complaining about the budget. Figgins says it can stay as long as Mr. Schuester pays $60 a month and uses the costumes that they already have. Figgins says that when Glee Club brings as much prestige as the Cheerio's (the cheerleading squad) he can have all the money he wants.
Later that night, Mr. Schuester lies in bed next to his wife and worries (through a voice over)about how to hide the money from his wife as well as getting the kids interested. He comes up with the name "New Directions."
The bell rings the next day and the audition process begins. Mercedes Jones, a heavy set black girl performs "Respect". This is followed by Kurt Hummel, the same kid being beat up in an earlier scene does "Mr. Cellophane". Tina C (a punk Asian), and Artie (who is in a wheelchair) then sign up as well. Tina performs "I Kissed a Girl" after introducing herself with a stutter.
Rachel then approaches the board and does "On My Own" during her solo, it flashes back to her signing up and putting a gold star next to her name. Her voice over comes up as a boy throw a drink in her face and she describes how she turned in Sandy Robinson for touching the student (because he got the solo she deserved). She tells the story of her two gay dads who mixed their sperm and used a turkey baser to impregnate a woman (a picture in the locker shows her two dads, one black and one white) she goes on to say she does not know which one is her real father. She is then shown tap dancing as a child describing how her fathers tried to give her all the advantages they could so she could become famous. She is then taping herself singing the same song for her MySpace page where she tries to load a video a day for her "fans". Five Cherrios (one being Quinn) in bleachers are then shown making harsh comments on her video. As she concludes her solo, Mr. S tells her she did a good job and she asks when rehearsals start.
Rehearsals then begin as they do "Sit Down Your Rockin' the Boat" in assorted costumes with Artie and Rachel doing the lead vocals. Rachel complains that they suck and Mr. Schuester tells them they need to practice more. Rachel storms out and is next seen on the bleachers, out of costume. Sue is then seen admonishing her cheerleaders as Rachel explains to Mr. Schuester she doesn't want to be laughed at and that everybody hates her. She explains that being part of something special will make her special, she demands a stronger male lead or she will quit the club.
Coach Tanka calls Mr. Schuester to Principal Figgins who want to shut down Glee Club because he needs the auditorium for Alcoholics Anonymous. Mr. Schuester then says Figgins can open a bar in the auditorium if the club doesn't show at Regionals. Figgins questions why he loves this club so much but finally agrees as long as Mr. Schuester runs detention for free.
Scene now changes to Terri Schuester at her job at Sheets 'n Things teaching Howard to fold a fitted sheet. Mr. Schuester brings her a sandwich but she doesn't eat it because it has mayonnaise and she doesn't want her diabetes to come back because the couple is trying to get pregnant. He then tells her about running detention and she complains about having to make her own dinner after working four hours a day three days a week. Terri has to go after a sheet is returned and Mr. Schuester runs into Sandy who is yelling at an employee. Mr. Schuester tries to avoid him, but they start talking and Sandy is happy that he has taken over Glee Club and has started selling marijuana after being dismissed. When Mr. Schuester asks who he sells to, it cuts to him behind the bleachers with Coach Tanaka. Sandy gives Mr. Schuester a free sample even after he refuses.
Mr. Schuester then goes sees Sue who is polishing her trophies as the scene switches back and forth between Mr. Schuester and Sue and another moment where Emma steps on a piece of gum. Sue expresses how none of the Chreeios are going to join the Glee Club because they are popular and the kids in the Glee club are at the bottom. Mr. Schuester scrapes the gum off of Emma's shoes as she tells him to get a couple of popular kids to join and the rest will fall in line. Mr. Schuester then asks Coach Tanaka if he can talk to the team and he tentatively agrees only if Mr. Schuester will put a good word in with Emma for him.
In the Locker Room, Mr. Schuester asks them to join and there is no interest as the put derogatory names onto the signup sheet. He becomes disheartened until he hears Finn singing in the shower and has the realization that he is doing this to show kids a gift inside of them that they don't even know they have. He then has the "blackest moment of his life" as he plants his pot into Finn's locker who adamantly swears it is not his. Mr. Schuester threatens that he will get kicked of school or end up in prison and he says he expects more. This comment gets to Finn because he always expects more out of himself. This goes into a flashback of his childhood when his dad died and his mother raised him by himself. He is seen playing the drums and her happiest time when they ordered Emerald Dreams and his mom dates the man who comes. They sing together and Darren tells him that he has a gift and should keep with it. Darren then leaves with a young blond and his mother takes it really hard. Coming back from the flash back, Mr. Schuester says he can do six week detention and have it on his permanent record or join Glee Club.
Finn is then seen singing "You're the One That I Want" with the Glee Club. The club reacts strongly, especially Rachel who crosses the stage pushing aside the other member to get Finn. Mercedes reacts to this new position of background singer strongly, but Kurt and Mr. S convince her that this is better than before.
Mr. Schuester is then at home with his wife in their craft room. He mentions taking the club on a field trip and she is not happy with anything he is doing. She complains about money and he mentions the amount of money she wastes at Pottery Barn. She pushes him to become an accountant but he responds that his passion is teaching. She urges him to move on from his high school days.
At school, Mr. Schuester needs volunteers for the field trip and Emma quickly volunteers under the watch of Coach Tanaka. At the football field, Puck overhears Coach Tanaka yelling at Finn to choose between being a singer or a player. Puck questions Finn and he lies about needing to take care of his mother. At Carmel High School, Rachel and Finn talk. Rachel mentions that everybody thinks they will get together but Finn is dating Quinn (who is president of the celibacy club). Mr. S and Emma then share a snack while he discusses the problems of his marriage.
In the auditorium, Mr. Schuester tells the club how these are there competition, but he doesn't think they will be that hard to beat. Their Glee Club comes out with close to thirty members and stuns the crowd with their performance of "Rehab" complete with excellent dance moves.
Puck and the football team then confront Finn about lying that his mother has a prostrate instead of telling them he was in the Glee Club. They belt him with green paint from paintball guns.
Mr. Schuester comes home to his wife who congratulates him and tells him that she is pregnant. He is close to tears and the scene flashes to him telling the Glee Club that he is leaving. The team has mixed reactions, telling him they will work harder and Finn asks if he can quit now. He says he loved being their teacher but as an adult he has to do thing he doesn't want for his family and leaves them in the auditorium.
His emotional farewell leads to him speaking with Emma who asks if he will come see her tomorrow in the career center because he needs some guidance. Rachel and Finn are then talking by his locker as Quinn asks why they are talking and she lies that are science partners and she tells him he needs to not worry about others. At football practice he talks to Puck as Finn says it over. As a welcome back "present" they have locked Artie in a port a potty and they want to flip it over. Finn then saves Arty and when Puck asks him why he saves that loser he tells him they are all losers. He tells Puck that neither group can win without him and he then returns to Glee Club practice. On the way he sees Darren on the football field as Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" plays in the background.
In the auditorium, Rachel is yelling at the club at choreography. Finn apologizes and tells him he wants to change. He asks Arty to get the Jazz band, Mercedes to get costumes, Rachel for choreography and he will pick the music.
The next scene is Emma and Mr. Schuester and she plays him the 1993 performance of him winning the Nationals in Show Choir. He says that was the best moment of his life and other only other time he has been as happy is when Teri got pregnant. Emma questions what type of person he will be telling his child to be if he just gets a job for money instead of doing something that he loves.
He is then walking down the hallway out of the school when he faintly hears the music to "Don't Stop Believing" and in the auditorium the club (dressed in matching red shirts) sings the song. Arty is playing the guitar with the rest of the band and Rachel and Finn sing to each other. Mr. Schuester is in the audience watching along as well as Puck at the back of the auditorium. As Puck walks out we see Sue, Finn and another cheerleader watching from above. Mr. Schuester approaches them and tells them they would get a nine, but need a ten. He advises Rachel and Finn and tells him he is staying and the show closes with him telling them to take it from the top.

Death Note - Season 2, Episode 19 - Visionary Deity

A head-strong, bored shinigami approaches Ryuk, asking him about his time in the human world. Ryuk replies by telling his recollection of the battle between Kira and L, only to get half way through and find his guest gone, headed towards the portal.

Full Recap
The movie opens with a scene of the shinigami realm, the time some point after the Kira incident. A shinigami approaches others seen throughout the Death Note series demanding to know where the shinigami who did something in the human world is. This shinigami has glowing red eyes and jewel-like teal goggles on his skull forehead. He climbs a narrow stair to find Ryuk, who has changed some since his adventures in the human world.

When Ryuk asks why the other shinigami has come to him, the other replies that he has something for Ryuk, throwing him a shinigami realm apple. Looking at it, Ryuk states he likes ones more juicy before eating it anyway. The other shinigami states that he's bored and wants to go to the human world. Ryuk replies that the human world is boring; what entertained him was the man who tried to change the world. In payment for the apple, Ryuk decides to tell the other shinigami about the man who tried to change the world and become a God.

Light's voice states that someone must do it, that humans cannot continue on the same path they've always walked. The scene shifts into the human world and flashes of human cruelty flash by, some familiar, some not. This transitions into the opening of the movie, showing Light using the Death Note, justifying his clean up of the world. He will be the God of a new world.

Light Yagami sits at his desk in high school, looking out the window in boredom when he sees a black notebook fall from the sky. After class, curiosity gets the better of him and he retrieves it, walking into the shadows to do so. He reads over the rules on the inside and places it back on the ground, feeling his intelligence insulted. He walks away, but moments later returns, unable to stay away.

In the shinigami realm, Ryuk approaches the portal between the two worlds and falls into Japan on a dark and stormy night.

Light arrives home and greets his mother, who wants his exam results. He's scored the highest, as is customary for him. He goes to his room and pulls out the Death Note, looking over the pages and pages of names signifying those he's killed in the name of justice. His gloating his disturbed by a voice, which turns out to be Ryuk's. At first the boy is shocked to find the god of death in his room but he quickly assesses the situation and rolls with it. They test each other, each complimenting and offering insecurities in turn. An agreement has formed between them, one that binds a human with a Death Note to the Death Note's owner.

Ryuk explains that there are no costs to using the Death Note. The only mentionable is that when the time comes, he will write Light's name in his own Death Note. He explains that humans who use the Death Note can go to neither Heaven nor Hell.

The next scene is of Matsuda and Soichiro Yagami at the ICPO international conference debating what to do about the 52 heart attack deaths. They come to the conclusion that they must call L in. L is a detective who has solved every case he's worked, though he chooses which cases he takes on. A voice tells the skeptics that L has already started work on the investigation. The voice belongs to Watari, the only contact the police have to L.

At home, Light finds different websites dedicated to "Kira," the name the public has chosen to give to him. He takes relish in the fact that the world has acknowledged him. The TV program playing in the background is suddenly interrupted, a message from the ICPO is to be played. An airing of someone claiming to be L appears, his name clearly displayed as Lind L. Taylor. Arrogant, disregards what is said until "L" calls him evil. Offended, Light decides to kill "L," writing the name down in his Death Note. The man dies 40 seconds later. Light celebrates his 'victory,' only to discover that it was a trap set for him by the real L, who never believed the ploy would work. He challenges Kira to kill him and Light finds himself further degraded when he cannot do it. L has proved himself and issued a challenge to Kira. Both of them believe they are justice, but only one can prevail.

Some days later, Ryuk tips Light off that he's being followed. Having not noticed this before, Light is momentarily nervous, but is off and thinking after long.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Task Force meets L in person, surprised by his appearance. They introduce themselves by showing their badges and L tells them all that if he'd been Kira, they'd be dead. He warns them not to reveal their names and to call him Ryuzaki. In the month since the broadcast, 23 criminals died, at times when a student would be busy, but the damage has been done. L knows they're looking for a student. He knows the time of death can be programmed and that Kira hates to lose.

In Light's darkened bedroom, Ryuk asks him why he's not writing any names.

L draws out a map of events on the table, showing when the FBI agents, one of who had been following Light Yagami, died.

The scene shifts to the subway where Raye Penber is threatened by Kira. He has been provided with paper on which to write the names of those working with him. The train stops, Penber exits, and has a heart attack. He looks back to see Light Yagami, knowing he's been fooled. Light's method of having Penber kill his own colleagues by writing on Death Note paper.

Soichiro calls home to request a change of clothing and Light offers to take it over. Penber's fiancee, Naomi Misora, heads in the same direction, determined to share her insight on Kira's powers. She is apprehended by Light, who offers to hear her out in order to prevent information from reaching the wrong ears.

They introduce each other and Ryuk laughs at her name, Maki Shoko. They walk, sharing opinions on Kira's powers. It comes out that she was engaged to one of the FBI agents who were killed. Light is surprised by how much she's inferred from what little evidence he left behind and realizes he must get rid of her.

The Task Force meets Watari, a proper old gentleman.

Light tells Naomi that he thinks they should investigate her theory immediately. Tricking her into believing that he's writing down details, Light pulls out a piece of the Death Note and tries to kill her. When the moment passes and nothing happens, Light realizes something's wrong and almost panics. He realizes she's used a fake name and must now formulate a new plan. Ryuk's laughing when her name is mentioned gave it away. He lies to her, claiming to be on the Task Force, gaining her trust. He discovers that she worked with L before and invites her to join them, requesting her identification. She admits that she lied and produces a driver's license with her real name on it. After writing her cause of death, he reveals that he's Kira, completely destroying her.

L finds out that Naomi Misora came to headquarters and has been missing since. He doubts that she would commit suicide, jumping to the conclusion that Kira got to her. He orders an investigation of those Penber was following, including the Yagami household. Bugs are installed in the house and Light quickly picks up on the change. Ryuk speaks to him but is ignored. Soichiro and L watch, Light's father wonders why Light goes to such extremes to be warned if someone's been in his room and L reminds him that the boy is 17. After checking his clothing for bugs outside the house, Light explains what's happened to Ryuk, recruiting the shinigami to find the bugs and their range by threatening an embargo of apples.

While the families watch TV, L broadcasts a message declaring that 1500 investigators have been put on the Kira case to try and rouse a response from Kira. Light's response gets L thinking, suspecting. Light returns to his room with a bag of chips containing a miniature TV and proceeds to kill criminals while he does work. Ryuk experiences apple-withdrawal symptoms. L finds its suspicious that Light doesn't turn on the TV or computer, but, conveniently, his exams are approaching. Later, Watari reports that criminals reported that day died. Though Soichiro is convinced the families are cleared, L is not.

Later, Sakura TV broadcasts a message from "Kira," who proves his identity by killing off other stations' anchors live. After the first one, L declares that the broadcast must be halted. Ukita leaves in a rush when they are unable to contact the station by phone. The broadcast continues, the distorted voice speaking Kira's ideals in a compromised matter. Ukita reaches the station but before he can force entry, is killed by heart attack. The Task Force sees this and L prevents the rest from doing the same, guessing that Kira is watching the entrance to the station. Matsuda sees a bus barreling down on the station and the scene switches. Soichiro demands the broadcast be halted. Demegawa, the station head, tells him no. He does anyway and confiscates the tapes.

Light analyzes this impostor, content to sit back and wait a while longer. He can't let him keep doing what he's doing though. He needs to get on the investigation team. L wants the same.

Misa and Rem are introduced, the "Second Kira." Rem warns her she could be killed, but she is confident because she has the eyes.

L calls Light while the student is in a library, guiding him to a guarded theatre. L is sitting in the front row. He rises to greet Light, offering his left hand. After shaking hands, L uses a cloth to wipe his hand, offending Light. They sit to watch the second Kira's tapes and the police's response. Light is appalled at the amount of information the impostor drops, all the while observed by L. When prompted, Light says that he doesn't believe that the tapes are from Kira either.

Misa models for a photographer before collapsing for the day at home. Her shinigami, Rem, tells her how she received her Death Note. When a shinigami loves a human enough to kill for them and extend their life, the shinigami turns to dust. A shinigami named Jealous saved Misa when she was supposed to die, sacrificing his own life. Rem took his Death Note and gave it to the girl who caused its owner's death.

Misa approaches Light at his house, having figured out where he lived from his name alone. She offers him her Note; he touches it and sees Rem, confirming that she is the second Kira. He brings her inside and Light asks her how she found him. She replies that it was all because of the eyes. Those who have a Death Note don't show a lifespan to other humans. He worries that she will be caught by the police and that Kira's secrets will be revealed. Misa declares that she wants to be his girlfriend. He declines, saying that her fingerprints were on the tapes she sent. She argues that she had a friend did it for her, that she'd give him her Death Note. He states blandly that she could have removed pages. Misa leaps from the chair, declaring that she doesn't mind being used, that she only wants him to trust her. He asks why she's so desperate and she reveals that Kira killed the criminal that killed her parents, that she's thankful towards Kira for solving her predicament. Light rises and embraces her, saying that while he understands, he can't be her boyfriend, but he can pretend. This appeases her.

At school, Light walks with a college girlfriend, Kiyomi Takada. They see L on a park bench and Light encourages the girl to continue without him. L tells Light there's still a 5% chance he's Kira, that if he dies in the next few days it will be confirmed. Misa arrives, having had a shoot nearby. At first, Light believes this to be a disaster, but then realizes that she can see L's real name. Light's confidence soars, but L's demeanor unnerves him. It turns out that L's simply a fan of Misa-Misa. Having said this aloud, a crowd gathers around the girl, who is soon dragged off by her manager Yoshi. Light and L part and Light pulls out his phone to call Misa--only to find out that she has been arrested for being the second Kira.

Misa is held hostage, bound and blinded. Light wonders what to do and is approached by Rem, who has removed Misa's memories. She threatens to kill him if he doesn't save her. Light agrees to be held as well, to remove all suspicion on him and Misa. During the imprisonment, L wonders if he's correct in his assumptions, considering the actions taken don't represent Kira's way of thinking. Light discards his ownership of the Death Note, losing his memories and evil demeanor. He begs to be released, having realized that he's not Kira. L talks to Misa, asking why she's been imprisoned. She believes it is because she's an idol. Matsuda bursts in, declaring that ignored criminals are suddenly dying.

Light and Misa have both been released, but are confined to the Task Force building. Light is handcuffed to L 24/7. L reveals that he's rather depressed that his assumptions were wrong and Light punches him, annoyed at the pathetic reason. This sparks a fight. L lashes out with his feet, sending Light flying in the opposite direction, declaring 'an eye for an eye.' Misa looks on, unsure what to do. L admits that he wanted Light to be Kira and another round of blows are exchanged. Matsuda calls to interrupt them and L quickly hands up on him.

Still handcuffed together, Light requests L look at something he's found. Many large business owners have been dying recently, boosting Yotsuba's stocks and decreasing the others'. The scene transitions to a boardroom meeting discussing who they should kill next; Rem is in the room. The Task Force is informed that someone from the Yotsuba Group is trying to investigate L with one of L's own aliases. They decide to wait and see the next course of action, but Matsuda becomes impatient and infiltrates the building while the rest of the Force meets with a man and woman who L wants to do the infiltration. Matsuda is discovered quickly passes himself off as Misa's agent. L devises a plan to get Matsuda off the hook by using Misa.

Misa meets with the Yotsuba group at a party. Matsuda pretends to be drunk and does a handstand on the balcony. He slips, apparently falling to his doom, but is captured several floors down. The others on the Task Force play out the rest of the enactment, ensuring the Yotsuba Group believes the man dead. Higuchi, the man who now has the Death Note decides he'll make Misa his wife before he kills her, much to Rem's disgust. While Misa takes a break from an interview later, Rem touches her with a piece of the Death Note and replaces many of her lost memories. She reveals to Misa who now has the Death Note. In a brave act, Misa gets Higuchi to admit he's currently Kira and records it with her cell phone. She presents this to the Task Force with a wide smile.

Higuchi celebrates his success a few nights later only to be called and told to tune into Sakura TV. There is an interview with a man who claims to have overheard eight men speaking of Kira and killing. The screen blocking the men falls, revealing Matsuda. Higuchi goes on a rampage to figure out the name Matsuda gave him. Light and L watch to see how the man kills and are disappointed that he only writes down the name. When 40 seconds pass and nothing happens, Higuchi explodes, realizing the name was a fake. He does the eye deal with Rem and races to the TV station. L realizes he can now kill with only a face and orders he be apprehended.

They follow his progress in a helicopter while those in the station are evacuated. He's trapped in the station and pulls a gun to escape. He makes it back to his Porche and tries to escape but is quickly surrounded by police. He is cuffed and blinded and asked how he kills. He tells them about the Notebook and Soichiro is the first to find it in the car. After touching it, he sees Rem. The Note is brought to L, who stares in disbelief. All the hints he's received come flooding back and he realizes there is another Note. Light has taken the Death Note from L and all his memories come flooding back in a rush. He kills Higuchi with a piece of Note stored in his watch, gaining ownership of the Note and retaining his memories.

Misa digs up a box containing her Death Note and retrieves her memories as well. She opens it and finds a letter from Light. He requests that she write down the name of the man she met when she ran into him at school before she was imprisoned. If she does, he'll love her forever. The only problem is, it's been so long she no longer remembers, and now she is without the eyes. Ryuk returns and Misa greets him cheerfully, explaining that this was all part of Light's plan to relieve them of their suspicions. He also added two fake rules to the Death Note, further securing their innocence. Misa gives Ryuk an apple, which he promptly devours. He gives her a shriveled one from the shinigami realm and she takes a bite, declaring it tastes like sand before throwing it down. She tells him she wants to do the eye deal again.

Misa comes to visit Light and Rem sees that the girl's life has been halved again. Misa touches Light with a page from the Death Note and he greets Ryuk. He invites her to build a new world with him as they embrace in the headquarter entrance.

A flashback from L's childhood shows an orphanage full of discontent, crying children. Watari guides a small L towards a tolling bell, both are silent.

While Light is busy with the Task Force, Misa takes over the job of judgment for Kira. The others realize that Misa's release is the only explanation. Rem realizes this was Light's plan all along, forcing her into action. She must kill Ryuzaki to prevent Misa from receiving penalty.

Atop the headquarters, L stands in the rain. Light approaches him, asking what he's doing up there. He replies that he's listening to the bells, which Light cannot hear. When Light tells him to stop speaking nonsense and L admits that all he ever tells are lies. He accuses Light of the same and the brunette asks him what he means. People aren't perfect, they will lie to protect those they care for. His defense seems to prove L's point.

They return inside to outrage. Apparently L has authorized the use of the Death Note to test it. However, before L can test the 13-day rule, Rem acts. She kills Watari, who deletes the headquarter's data as his final act. L knows something is wrong and immediately notices that Rem is gone. His heart stops and Light realizes before he falls what has transpired. He catches his nemesis before he hits the ground, already in actor mode. The bells continue ringing as silent scenes flash by; the orphanage, the stained glass of the church, Rem falling to dust. Light successfully evokes a panic that they'll all be killed.

Time passes and they visit L's grave, the only ones who attended his funeral. The swear they'll arrest Kira one day, as their final farewell to him. The others leave and Light stays behind, Ryuk at his side. The shinigami is skeptic about the excitement of the future. Unable to control it any longer, Light bursts into maniacal laughter, his prospects high. He falls upon L's grave, rubbing these facts in, slightly crazed before regaining control. In response to Ryuk's claim, Light tells him he'll show the shinigami how to build a new world. As he walks along, people die in horrendous ways; a shot of Ryuk writing the last name in his Death Note flashes by.

Back in the present, Ryuk looks at that name in his worn Note. He speaks, 'you were not God, you were just--' reflecting on the actions the arrogant human took. He looks to the direction of his visitor, who has left, headed for the human world. Ryuk looks up at the perpetually grey sky, telling the absent shinigami that he might just get an experience he'll never forget.

Glee - Season 2, Episode 16 - Original Song

Glee Season 2 Episode 16 - Original SongWith the threat of Aural Intensity's new coach, Sue Sylvester, and the competition from the Dalton Academy Warblers, New Direction decides to use original songs to get an edge at Regionals.

Full Recap

During the Warblers rehearsal, their song sounds great but Kurt can't help but feel that Blaine is the only one of the Warblers to get solos. Blaine senses that Kurt is jealous but Kurt counters and says that the group feels more like Blaine and the Pips. Back at McKinley, Rachel sings her original song for Finn. Her song, "Only Child" discusses Rachel's sadness about not having any siblings. Finn says the song is better than her first song, "My Headband" but the song is still not deep enough for others to relate to.
Quinn is on a mission to become prom queen and she believes the only way for that to happen is to have Finn at her side as prom king. She's worried though that Rachel's friendship and affection for Finn may stand in the way. Quinn decides to keep her friends close but her enemies closer and embarks on a mission to becoming Rachel's new best friend.
While at home and under Kurt's care, Pavarotti, the Warblers' pet canary dies. He and the Warblers sing "Blackbird" by the Beatles as a tribute to Pavarotti.
Will comes into glee practice with bad news. They're unable to perform "Sing" by My Chemical Romance at Regionals because the band sent them a cease and desist letter. This is all of course part of Sue's great plot to take Will down after he cause the loss of Sue's Cheerios to glee. Rachel suggests that in place of singing other artists' music that they should write their own original music for Regionals. While everyone shuts the idea down, Quinn backs her up. Everyone decides that they can't just have two people writing songs for the group and everyone wants to contribute.
Santana is still upset by Brittany's rejection and she informs her that she'll be writing a love song about Sam. Sue passes the duo in the hallway and gently reminds them that they had betrayed her by leaving the Cheerios. She also informs them that she's not afraid to play dirty. As Santana and Brittany open their lockers, dirt spills out all over them.
Blaine approaches the Warblers council. He tells them that with the information that Kurt has given him about New Directions, the Warblers won't be able to win Regionals if he is singing lead in every single song. After some outrage, he proposes to do a duet at Regionals and requests that Kurt be his partner.
At practice, Santana tells Mr. Schuester that she's already been working on a song with Tina. She sings an original song called "Troutymouth," about Sam. He doesn't like the jokes about his mouth and lips and Mr. Schuester says that it probably isn't strong enough for Regionals. Puck steps up and performs his song for Lauren, "Big Ass Heart."
Quinn wants Finn's help in her campaign to win prom queen. Finn says that while he wants to help, he would rather wait until after Nationals in order to protect Rachel's feelings. Quinn begins to scare Finn and he agrees to start the plan after Regionals. Unfortunately, Rachel has overheard everything.
Blaine comes over to Kurt and asks him to practice their duet. He's picked "Candles" by Hey Monday. Kurt is surprised by his song choice since this is different from his usual Top 40 songs. He asks Blaine why he chose him for his duet partner. Blaine tells Kurt that he was moved by his "Blackbird" performance. He tells Kurt that he's fallen for him and they kiss.
Mercedes sings her original song "Hell to the No" which is full of energy and fun. Everyone loves the song but Mr. Schuester doesn't think its Regionals material. He reminds the group that the best songs that are out there are about personal pain. Everyone brainstorms and lists out their personal pains caused by Sue and Mr. Schuester thinks that they have an original song in "Loser Like Me."
Rachel approaches Quinn. She thinks that Quinn owes it to her to be honest with her since they've been through so much. Quinn admits that she and Finn are back together because they are meant to stay together in Lima whereas Rachel is meant for other things, not in Ohio. Quinn tells her that if she keeps looking for her happy ending, she'll never get her song right. Rachel goes home to finish writing her song, "Get It Right."
Sue goes into Will's office and admits to him that she in fact had forged the letter from My Chemical Romance. Will is ok with this and tells Sue that they benefited by getting the opportunity to write their own songs. At Regionals, the judges are Rod Remington, anchor man, Tammy Jean Albertson, a homeschooler and Tea Party candidate, and Sister Mary Constance, a nun and former exotic dancer.
Oral Intensity, coached by Sue begin the competition by singing "Jesus Is My Friend" in an effort to play to the judges and the crowd. Kurt begins to get nervous for the duet but Blaine tells him everything will be all right. The Warblers take the stage and perform "Candles" and then "Raise Your Glass."
Finn tells Rachel to break a leg before they take the stage. She reminisces to last year when he told her he loved her. Rachel pours her feelings out on stage in her song "Get It Right" and Finn is clearly affected by the words. The whole group gets together and performs "Loser Like Me." The crowd loves the song and New Directions closes the performance by pouring confetti slushies on the audience. The judges gather to debate and rate the performances. Each judge has a different feeling toward each group. New Directions ends up winning Regionals.
Kurt and Blaine put Pavarotti to rest and while he is upset, he's more upset by their loss at Regionals. Blaine tells them that they've won by finding each other. Will encourages the group's continued team work while they begin to prepare for Nationals. He also decides that they should start singing out an MVP of their show choir. Rachel is voted unanimously as their MVP. She tells the glee club that she feels special and loved at last because her fellow classmates believe in her.

Make It or Break It - Season 2, Episode 12 - Free People

Make It or Break It Season 2 Episode 12 - Free PeopleThe Rock gets a new coach, and everyone (especially Payson) is a little skeptical about her ability to coach elite-level gymnasts properly. Lauren, however, sees this as an opportunity to get off on the right foot with a new coach that doesn't know about her manipulative tricks.

Full Recap
Maeve is teaching Kaylie all of the tricks she knows in order to convince the therapist at Willow Glen that she can go home. Kaylie's efforts pay off, she gains three pounds, and after a few weeks she is allowed to go home. However, she is not allowed to resume her training at The Rock until the therapists (and Ronnie) are convinced that she really is healthy again.

Steve hires a new coach for The Rock, and Lauren couldn't be more excited, because the new coach, Darby Conrad, was her "big sister" at NGO camp when she was younger. Payson, who had taken it upon herself up until this point to coach the elites, is the most skeptical about Darby's coaching techniques, complaining that her very presence bring the gym from a serious training facility to a sorority house, especially after Darby declares that the training times are flexible and the old rules about dating are gone. Lauren tries to take advantage of Darby's good nature (and the fact that she doesn't know how manipulative Lauren has become) to establish herself as the new team captain in Kaylie's absence. Payson and Emily don't agree that Lauren should be the new captain, so Darby announces that there will be a competition the next day to determine the new captain.

Summer and Steve resolve their differences and rekindle their romance. Lauren is ecstatic, thinking that she is only one step away from having a new mom in Summer. Steve is happy, but it seems he is more happy to please Lauren than to have Summer back. However, trouble is on the horizon when Summer's one stipulation about their relationship is that Steve has to be honest with her about everything. Steve later finds out that Lauren is the one who leaked the video to Ellen Beals, but he is torn about revealing that, especially after he's said that when he found out who is was that they'd be kicked out of The Rock.

The next day, Payson and Lauren compete against each other for captain. They both through their most difficult tricks, and in the end they are tied, so Darby makes them co-captains. Lauren is upset, because she thought that no matter what happened that Darby would have her back, and now she feels betrayed. Lauren demands her father to make Darby make her the captain, but Steve stands his ground (for once). When Lauren says that he owes her for her getting rid of Sasha, he realizes just what kind of monster his spoiled daughter has become.

Meanwhile, Emily is excited, because her parole officer has lifted her house arrest, and with the no-dating rule abolished, she is free to see Damon whenever and wherever she wants. Damon comes back into town because he wants to be near Emily (his muse), and he needs to find a cheaper recording studio. Kaylie offers her mother's old recording studio at her house, since it will also fulfill her requirement of getting a new hobby to convince her therapist she's healthy.

Emily comes back from her date with Damon to find Marcus from the NGO paying her mother a visit. He announces that the National Team committee has decided that she can keep her status on the National Team if she adheres to a few conditions: no job, no dating, and no going anywhere that isn't home or the gym. Emily is crushed that her newfound freedom has already been taken away, and she considers not signing the affadavit. Damon convinces her not to throw her career away, but all Emily wants to do is be with Damon, which includes finally having sex with him.

Full Recap
The episode opens with Kaylie, Emily, Lauren and Payson arriving at The Rock late at night for an emergency training session. Some of the girls start to complain about being there at such a late hour, but Kaylie cuts them off and reminds them all that since Worlds are so close that they should take advantage of every opportunity to perfect their routines. The go inside and notice that the guys are already there training on the apparatus...but something's wrong. The guys are performing a little toowell, and it becomes more apparent that something's really wrong. The guys start to dismount the apparatus and it's revealed that they are all vampires. Payson tries to get the girls out of there, but she is the first one attacked. Emily disappears and Kaylie gets surprised by Carter coming after her, fangs out and ready to bite her. Lauren puts herself inbetween them and tells Kaylie to save herself. Kaylie gets outside and runs into Austin and Emily, who are now both vampires, too. When all is lost, Sasha drives up and rescues Kaylie. As they are driving away, Sasha says that he will always be there for her, and Kaylie turns on him and bites him with her new vampire teeth. With that, we see Kaylie's in the middle of a therapy session at the Willow Glen Eating Disorder Rehabilitation Center. The woman leading the session is trying to get Kaylie to interpret her dreams as part of her treatment, but it's obvious that Kaylie doesn't want to be there, nor does she feel she needs any treatment.

Back at The Rock, the rest of the girls are arriving for training in the aftermath of Sasha being fired. Payson still blames herself for everything that happened, and doesn't want to train or have anything to do with gymnastics without Sasha, but Kim convinces her to keep training anyway. Lauren is still staying with Summer, who tries to get her to go back home to her father, but all Lauren says is that some things can't be forgiven, but we don't know if she's referring to her father for hiding her mother from her, or her leaking the video of Payson and Sasha's kiss to Ellen Beals and the NGO. Emily is still feeling sorry for herself for getting arrested, and Chloe reminds her that no one forced her to steal the meds for Brian, but Emily snaps back that Chloe should have been there to prevent the whole situation from happening. Summer and Kim confront Steve about the kiss video and ask him if he was the one that leaked it, but he insists that not only was it not him, but that when he finds out who did do it, that they would be expelled from The Rock.

Later, Emily, Chloe, Summer, Steve, Kim, Cindy (Emily's parole officer), and Marcus (a representative from the NGO) have a meeting to discuss Emily's National Team eligibility. Cindy says that Emily is under house arrest, but she is allowed to go to the gym as long as she wear an ankle monitoring bracelet at all times. Chloe asks if Emily is allowed to participate at an exhibition in Denver that weekend, and Cindy grants her permission as long as she is under constant supervision and wears the ankle bracelet. Emily complains that there's no way that she can perform with the bracelet on, but she gets no sympathy from anyone, which makes her angrier.

Since there is no coach at The Rock, Payson has taken over and is trying to get everyone up to speed. Emily has problems with a tumbling pass on floor, so Payson enlists Austin to help her out. Lauren is busy being a bitch to everyone (especially Emily), because she doesn't want anyone to know that she's upset about her mother's death, Carter leaving, and her remorse over leaking the kiss video.

The girls go to Denver for the exhibition and learn that Kelly Parker is back from her ankle injury and is gunning for Kaylie's spot on the World Team. The Rock girls are quickly dismissed as a second class citizens compared to the Denver club, which makes everyone feel worse. Even a visit to Kaylie in rehab doesn't do much to lift anyone's spirits. The only thing that comes close is Austin introducing his friend, Max, to the girls. Max is a photographer and male gymnast that is trying to decide between The Rock and the Denver club, and can't seem to take his eyes off of Payson, who is clueless to his attention. Lauren sees Max as another conquest, and gets right to whoring it up around him. This all comes to a head at the banquet that night when it's revealed that Carter has not only joined the Denver club, but has also started going out with Kelly. Lauren and Kelly try to get the attention of both boys on the dance floor, but all they succeed in is looking like a couple of sluts.

Needing to feel better about herself, Kelly tries to rile up Payson over the whole Sasha-kiss-thing, and tells her that Sasha is in Denver. Payson runs out of the party and tells her mother that they need to find out where in Denver Sasha is staying so they can convince him to come home. Kim tells her to stay at the party while she goes to Sasha to see what's going on. Sasha is at a local boxing club and tells Kim that he's only there until his passport comes back so he can return to Romania. Meanwhile, Max finds Payson outside of the party and reveals that he has a bit of a crush on her.

The next day at the exhibition, Emily is still whining about not wanting anyone to see her ankle bracelet, and Austin comes up with the idea of everyone wearing leg warmers. During the show, Emily's leg warmer slips down while she's in a handstand, giving everyone a good look at the bracelet. Horrified, Emily runs off the stage, and Max jumps on to distract the audience. Max decides that he will join The Rock over the Denver club, and Emily makes a speech about taking responsiblity for her actions and forgiving her mother. After the show, Lauren asks Emily if she really forgave her mother, and Emily says no, but since she's all she has, that she can't push her away. Lauren takes this to heart and decides to move back into her father's house.

While the girls were in Denver, Marcus pays a visit to the Kmetko house to see what kind of home life Emily really has. He notices that Emily doesn't have a room of her own, and sleeps in a corner of the living room, and he asks Chloe if she really understands what it takes to have a child in an elite sports program. Chloe fires back that he doesn't understand the sacrifice that families have to make in order to pay for elite training, then tells him to leave. Later, Emily comes home to find that Chloe switched their rooms so that Emily can have her own room for once.

Austin seems to be making everyone angry. His attempt to give Emily advice goes awry when he isn't as sympathetic as Emily felt he should be. He visits Kaylie before returning to Boulder, and she gets upset when he tells her to focus more on getting better than any relationship they might have. Having had a sister with an eating disorder before, he knows that she's not allowed to date anyone until she's "cured", but Kaylie takes it as Austin being a player and toying with her emotions. He leaves and Maeve, a supermodel and fellow rehab patient, starts asking Kaylie about him, which causes Kaylie to erupt on her. Maeve reveals that she has been in rehab three times in the last two years, and that she will teach Kaylie how to trick people into thinking she's cured.
