The Rock gets a new coach, and everyone (especially Payson) is a little skeptical about her ability to coach elite-level gymnasts properly. Lauren, however, sees this as an opportunity to get off on the right foot with a new coach that doesn't know about her manipulative tricks.Full Recap
Maeve is teaching Kaylie all of the tricks she knows in order to convince the therapist at Willow Glen that she can go home. Kaylie's efforts pay off, she gains three pounds, and after a few weeks she is allowed to go home. However, she is not allowed to resume her training at The Rock until the therapists (and Ronnie) are convinced that she really is healthy again.
Steve hires a new coach for The Rock, and Lauren couldn't be more excited, because the new coach, Darby Conrad, was her "big sister" at NGO camp when she was younger. Payson, who had taken it upon herself up until this point to coach the elites, is the most skeptical about Darby's coaching techniques, complaining that her very presence bring the gym from a serious training facility to a sorority house, especially after Darby declares that the training times are flexible and the old rules about dating are gone. Lauren tries to take advantage of Darby's good nature (and the fact that she doesn't know how manipulative Lauren has become) to establish herself as the new team captain in Kaylie's absence. Payson and Emily don't agree that Lauren should be the new captain, so Darby announces that there will be a competition the next day to determine the new captain.
Summer and Steve resolve their differences and rekindle their romance. Lauren is ecstatic, thinking that she is only one step away from having a new mom in Summer. Steve is happy, but it seems he is more happy to please Lauren than to have Summer back. However, trouble is on the horizon when Summer's one stipulation about their relationship is that Steve has to be honest with her about everything. Steve later finds out that Lauren is the one who leaked the video to Ellen Beals, but he is torn about revealing that, especially after he's said that when he found out who is was that they'd be kicked out of The Rock.
The next day, Payson and Lauren compete against each other for captain. They both through their most difficult tricks, and in the end they are tied, so Darby makes them co-captains. Lauren is upset, because she thought that no matter what happened that Darby would have her back, and now she feels betrayed. Lauren demands her father to make Darby make her the captain, but Steve stands his ground (for once). When Lauren says that he owes her for her getting rid of Sasha, he realizes just what kind of monster his spoiled daughter has become.
Meanwhile, Emily is excited, because her parole officer has lifted her house arrest, and with the no-dating rule abolished, she is free to see Damon whenever and wherever she wants. Damon comes back into town because he wants to be near Emily (his muse), and he needs to find a cheaper recording studio. Kaylie offers her mother's old recording studio at her house, since it will also fulfill her requirement of getting a new hobby to convince her therapist she's healthy.
Emily comes back from her date with Damon to find Marcus from the NGO paying her mother a visit. He announces that the National Team committee has decided that she can keep her status on the National Team if she adheres to a few conditions: no job, no dating, and no going anywhere that isn't home or the gym. Emily is crushed that her newfound freedom has already been taken away, and she considers not signing the affadavit. Damon convinces her not to throw her career away, but all Emily wants to do is be with Damon, which includes finally having sex with him.
