Glee - Season 1, Episode 4 - Preggers

Glee - Preggers
Kurt joins the football team just to impress his father. Finn and Quinn's relationship get a shocking development. Rachel thinks her star is fading when Tina is given a better part during rehearsals which causes her to leave. Sue continues her schemes to dismantle the glee club.

Full Recap

The episode opens with Kurt recreating Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" video with friends Brit and Tina. All of a sudden the music cuts off; his father is home unexpectedly. Still trying to hide his homosexuality from his dad, he claims to be working on his conditioning because he's now the kicker on the football team. His father seems to buy his excuse and even asks for a ticket to Kurt's first game.

Meanwhile, Terri and Will are practising Lamaze with the help of Kendra. When she tries to show Will how to massage gas bubbles out of Terri's stomach, Terri freaks out saying she doesn't want Will to bruise the baby. She gets Will to leave the room by asking him to make her a BLT. Once he's gone, Terri admits to Kendra that she's not really pregnant. She decides she has to tell Will the truth, but Kendra tells her dishonesty is food for a marriage and will die without it. Kendra tells her all Terri needs to do is get a baby.

In the teacher's lounge, Emma tells the other faculty that Sue Sylvester has a new segment on the local news called "Sue's Corner". It's controversial to say the least, with her first broadcast advocating caning, but it nonetheless makes her a local celebrity.

At Glee practice, Rachel is very upset to find out Tina has received a solo from West Side Story and feels she's being punished, although Will claims he's just trying to shake things up. Rachel storms out of rehearsal. Afterward, Kurt asks Finn to help him try out for kicker on the football team. Kurt shows up in his usual flambouyant and starts dancing to "Single Ladies" in order to warm up. The football team laughs at him until he lands a long kick right between the goal posts.

The local station manager, Mr. McClung, expresses his concern to Sue that a lot of cheerleaders are defecting to the Glee club. Since Sue's segment is all about being a champion, he says she really needs the team to win nationals.

At school, Finn confronts Quinn about giving him the silent treatment and says he's sorry for whatever he may have done. She tearfully tells him that she's pregnant with his baby. Finn's confused because they've never had sex, but Quinn reminds him of an evening in a hot tub where Finn became a little too excited, and even though they still had their swimsuits on it was the perfect temperature to help sperm swim faster.

Sue visits Sandy at his home to offer him the Art Administrator position, including control of the Glee club. (She's blackmailed Principal Figgins with a demonstrational video she found of him for Mumbai Air in anti-clotting stockings.) Their first order to business is getting Rachel Berry out of the club; they lure her out with an audition for the musical Cabaret with the audition requirement of a Celine Dion song. They cast Rachel as the lead and she quits Glee. Will is understandably upset.

At rehearsal, Tina is singing her solo. Will thinks she's doing great but Tina isn't so sure. She tells Will to give the song to Rachel because she's better, and because Rachel will quit without it. Finn comes to rehearsal crying. Will takes him to dinner to discuss his problem. He tells Will he doesn't want to end up like other guys his age who became fathers; he needs to go to college to become something and the only way to do that is with a football scholarship. But the team is on a losing streak. Finn thinks that if Will helps the team with their moves, like he did when he and Puck were in Acafellas. If the football team can win one game the guys will start to trust Will and some of them will want to join the Glee club. It's win-win. At home, Will tells Terri about Finn's problem, which gives her an idea.

The football team doesn't like the idea of learning to dance, but the coach thinks it's a good idea so off to the choir room they go. When they're done Finn confides to Puck that Qinn is pregnant; Puck looks shocked. He immediately confronts Quinn and asks who the father was since she told him she was a virgin when they had sex. He tells Quinn he'll take care of her and the baby, but she tells him she only had sex with him because he got her drunk on wine coolers and felt fat that day; she doesn't want to be saddled with a "Lima loser".

Quinn runs to her car crying...where Terri is waiting for her.

At the football game that night, the team decides it would be too embarassing to dance and become even more of a joke than they already are, so they skip it and their game suffers for it; they're getting creamed. In the fourth quarter with just seconds to go Finn calls for a time-out. He tells Puck they have to dance. Puck refuses, saying they'll all be jokes for the rest of their high school lives. Finn tells him they're already jokes and he doesn't want to be a Lima loser for the rest of his life. This is enough to convince the team. On the next play, Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" starts blaring and the entire team does the dance from her video. They follow the dance with a spectacular play that earns them a touchdown, which ties the game. It all comes down to Kurt to win the game with the kick. With his father watching, he Beyoncé's his way to the ball and makes the kick, making him a hero. He's carried off the field by the other football players while Finn kisses Quinn. Puck watches them, then walks off the field by himself.

At home, Kurt's father tells him how proud he is and wishes Kurt's mother could have been there to see him play. Kurt says he's glad his father is proud but admits that he's gay. His father surprises him by telling him he already knows and while he's not thrilled about it he still loves Kurt very much. They embrace.

At school, Finn gives Quinn the baby blanket his father gave him when he was born and promises to be a good father to their baby. Puck interrupts their moment and starts giving Quinn a hard tim, telling her she's starting to get fat. Finn tells him to back off.

At Glee rehearsal, three football players have joined and Will decides to start the rehearsal with the solo from Westside Story. Rachel smiles expectantly until Will tells Tina to show them what she's got.

Rachel shows up to Cabaret rehearsal telling Sandy she's now exclusively in the show.

Glee - Season 1, Episode 3 - Acafellas

Glee - Acafellas

Will forms an acapella group and spends more time with them than he

does with New Directions after he is asked to perform at the PTA meeting with some surprising additions to his group. Meanwhile, Kurt is under pressure in his life which isn't helped by Mercedes new found interest in finding a relationship.

Full Recap

The episode begins with Will and Terri having dinner with Will's parents. Will can no longer contain his excitement about Terri's pregnancy and announces the news to his parents. His parents are thrilled about the news, but Terri is caught off guard and shocked because she thought they weren't going to tell anyone yet. She still hasn't told anyone that she actually is not pregnant. Will confesses to his father that he's terrified and his father says that his lack of confidence is his fault since boys learn that from their fathers. He tells Will about his dream of attending law school and how he didn't apply because he didn't have the balls to.
At glee practice, Will is choreographing a new routine when Rachel interrupts him. She tells him that his choreography sucks. Quinn and the other Cheerios had approached her earlier saying she had to do something about the choreography. Rachel tells Will that she doesn't think that they can compete with Vocal Adrenaline with the routines that they are doing. She thinks that if they hire Dakota Stanley, a choreographer that works with Vocal Adrenaline, that they might have a chance. Quinn then asks Will if he's performed… after high school. Will talks to Emma and says that he's always wanted to perform but he just never did. He also says he's nervous about being a dad and that he wants to set a good example for his kid. He thanks Emma for letting him unload and she says its fine since they're both in relationships now – Will with Terri and she with Coach Ken. She says that things are going well with Ken and that there's nothing sexier in a man than confidence.
Will enters the faculty lounge to find Sandy there. He thought that Sandy wasn't allowed on campus but Sandy clarifies that he's not allowed to be within 50 feet of children but he's there for the return of Henri, the shop teacher. He had returned after having an accident in wood shop and slicing off both of his thumbs. Howard, Terri's co-worker, arrives with a two thumbs up cake that Terri had baked for Henri's return. The boys sit around and talk to each other and after talking about their feelings they form a boy band – The Acafellas… but they don't let Sandy in the group because it's creepy. Will thinks that his being in a boy band was boosting his love life, but to Terri's disappointment she still wasn't pregnant.
Rachel tried to apologize to Will with cookies. She said that his absence at rehearsals has been a problem and Will gives them the go-ahead to hire Dakota Stanley. Finn is the only member of the group opposed to hiring Dakota. Will approaches Rachel about how she's been harder on him since their moment in the auditorium. She thinks she's still upset about what's happened, but Rachel says she's moved on and that its time to focus on her career and winning. Will doesn't believe her. Rachel says she knows that there's something between the two of them, and she knows Will has feelings for her, he just doesn't have the confidence to admit it. She says she's moving on and they're hiring Dakota and Finn threatens to quit.
The Cheerios check in with Sue in her office. Quinn says that Dakota will destroy the glee club since he's so harsh. Sue commends them for their work on bringing down glee club. Mercedes is a little sad that everyone around her seems to be in a couple and starts getting close to Kurt. Quinn sees this and encourages her to go for it. The Acafellas have a great performance at a bar and Will finally began to feel like a star. His father congratulates him and says they've already sold all the copies of the Acafellas' CDs. Principal Figgins loved the performance and wants the Acafellas to perform at the next PTA event. The local newspaper praised their performance as well. Sandy still wants in on the group. He tries to get into the group once again but saying that Josh Groban is coming to the PTA event – the two have been friends since Josh Groban accidentally friended him on MySpace. Once again, Will refuses to let him in.
The glee club goes to Vocal Adrenaline to talk to Dakota Stanley. Outside, they run into two members who say they shouldn't hire him because he's a monster. The Vocal Adrenaline time practice a very complex routine to "Mercy." Dakota Stanley says that his services cost $8000. The glee kids look distraught.
Will and Ken practice a new routine when Howard calls in to quit the group. Emma comes in to break the news that Henri had overdosed on cough syrup and that Sandy had taken him to the hospital and that he'll be entering rehab in the morning. Emma encourages Will and says he shouldn't give up hope. Finn comes into Will's office to tell him that he's quitting glee club. Finn and Puck both decide to join Acafellas. Puck is doing it because he thinks he has star potential…and for the cougars. Rachel and Tina have a gay-vention with Mercedes. They try to warn her that Kurt is gay and that she could do better but Mercedes rejects their advice. The Cheerios help out the glee club with a car wash fundraiser so that they could raise enough money to pay for Dakota's services. Mercedes asks Kurt if they can make it official that they're dating. Kurt says that he's in love with someone else, and Mercedes thinks its Rachel. Kurt doesn't deny it and she breaks his windshield with a rock. He asks how she could bust his window and Mercedes says that he busted her heart.
Dakota arrives for their first rehearsal together and hands out individual

instructions for dieting to everyone but the Cheerios on glee. He cuts Artie from the group because he's in a wheelchair. He says that the club lacks confidence. One by one, the glee members start to quit. Rachel tells everyone the story of Barbara Streisand, saying she defied advice she was given and became a star anyway. She thinks they can win because they are different. The Acafellas perform for the PTA meeting. Sandy is excited because Josh Groban actually showed up. Backstage, Josh Groban actually shows up and tells Sandy to stop emailing and calling and then serves him with a restraining order. He congratulates the other guys on a great performance. Will's father congratulates him again and asks where his mother is (off being hit on by Josh Groban). He also tells will that he's taken the first step and has registered for s and then eventually for law school. He says it's never too late to go after your dreams. Mercedes apologizes to Kurt for breaking his car windshield and that she hopes that things work out between Kurt and Rachel. Kurt musters up the courage to tell her that he's gay. Sue is not happy with the news that glee club is back together and stronger than ever. Quinn thanks Sue for teaching her a valuable life lesson – when you really believe in yourself, you don't have to bring other people down.

Glee Season 1, Episode 1 - Pilot

Glee - Pilot
Will Schuester, an optimistic high school teacher, tries to reinvent the McKinley High School's glee club, while reinventing himself. He challenges a group of outcasts to realize their true star potential, while facing harsh criticism from everyone in the school.

Full Recap
The show opens with a cheerleading squad performing a routine, it flashes to their coach who is timing them and asking if they think what they are doing is hard.
The Title flashes on the screen for a second and then a rundown blue car is seen driving through the parking lot, Mr. Schuester steps out and sees a bunch of football students harassing Kurt. He doesn't do anything, but tells Finn that his report on his summer activities is still late. As Kurt is being thrown into the trash can he complains that it will ruin his new collection Mark Jacob's jacket. Finn says "Wait," and instead of helping him holds his jacket as his teammates toss Kurt into the dumpster.
Mr. Schuester then admires the 1993 trophy for National Championship in Show Choir and is seen teaching a Spanish while Finn sits repeating the words and looking bored.
The school bell rings and Sandy Ryerson and a student are practicing "Where is Love?" Sandy begins to touch the stomach of the student as Rachel watches through a crack in the door.
A sign that says Coffee points at an ending machine as Coach Tanaka and Mr. Schuester talk about budget cuts. Then Sue walks in with lattes, Emma then takes gloves and clean wipes out with her lunch as her and Sue banter about cheerleaders going over budget with a nutritionist. Sue then leaves the room as Coach Tanaka questions Emma about a Singles Mixer. Emma cleans the table as she talks and complains that her number two fireman hasn't called. She looks adoringly upon Mr. Schuester as she talks about how Sandy Ryerson was fired. Mr. Schuester asks who will take over Glee Club.
The scene then goes to Mr. Figgins office, Mr. Schuester wishes to take over Glee Club, but the principal is complaining about the budget. Figgins says it can stay as long as Mr. Schuester pays $60 a month and uses the costumes that they already have. Figgins says that when Glee Club brings as much prestige as the Cheerio's (the cheerleading squad) he can have all the money he wants.
Later that night, Mr. Schuester lies in bed next to his wife and worries (through a voice over)about how to hide the money from his wife as well as getting the kids interested. He comes up with the name "New Directions."
The bell rings the next day and the audition process begins. Mercedes Jones, a heavy set black girl performs "Respect". This is followed by Kurt Hummel, the same kid being beat up in an earlier scene does "Mr. Cellophane". Tina C (a punk Asian), and Artie (who is in a wheelchair) then sign up as well. Tina performs "I Kissed a Girl" after introducing herself with a stutter.
Rachel then approaches the board and does "On My Own" during her solo, it flashes back to her signing up and putting a gold star next to her name. Her voice over comes up as a boy throw a drink in her face and she describes how she turned in Sandy Robinson for touching the student (because he got the solo she deserved). She tells the story of her two gay dads who mixed their sperm and used a turkey baser to impregnate a woman (a picture in the locker shows her two dads, one black and one white) she goes on to say she does not know which one is her real father. She is then shown tap dancing as a child describing how her fathers tried to give her all the advantages they could so she could become famous. She is then taping herself singing the same song for her MySpace page where she tries to load a video a day for her "fans". Five Cherrios (one being Quinn) in bleachers are then shown making harsh comments on her video. As she concludes her solo, Mr. S tells her she did a good job and she asks when rehearsals start.
Rehearsals then begin as they do "Sit Down Your Rockin' the Boat" in assorted costumes with Artie and Rachel doing the lead vocals. Rachel complains that they suck and Mr. Schuester tells them they need to practice more. Rachel storms out and is next seen on the bleachers, out of costume. Sue is then seen admonishing her cheerleaders as Rachel explains to Mr. Schuester she doesn't want to be laughed at and that everybody hates her. She explains that being part of something special will make her special, she demands a stronger male lead or she will quit the club.
Coach Tanka calls Mr. Schuester to Principal Figgins who want to shut down Glee Club because he needs the auditorium for Alcoholics Anonymous. Mr. Schuester then says Figgins can open a bar in the auditorium if the club doesn't show at Regionals. Figgins questions why he loves this club so much but finally agrees as long as Mr. Schuester runs detention for free.
Scene now changes to Terri Schuester at her job at Sheets 'n Things teaching Howard to fold a fitted sheet. Mr. Schuester brings her a sandwich but she doesn't eat it because it has mayonnaise and she doesn't want her diabetes to come back because the couple is trying to get pregnant. He then tells her about running detention and she complains about having to make her own dinner after working four hours a day three days a week. Terri has to go after a sheet is returned and Mr. Schuester runs into Sandy who is yelling at an employee. Mr. Schuester tries to avoid him, but they start talking and Sandy is happy that he has taken over Glee Club and has started selling marijuana after being dismissed. When Mr. Schuester asks who he sells to, it cuts to him behind the bleachers with Coach Tanaka. Sandy gives Mr. Schuester a free sample even after he refuses.
Mr. Schuester then goes sees Sue who is polishing her trophies as the scene switches back and forth between Mr. Schuester and Sue and another moment where Emma steps on a piece of gum. Sue expresses how none of the Chreeios are going to join the Glee Club because they are popular and the kids in the Glee club are at the bottom. Mr. Schuester scrapes the gum off of Emma's shoes as she tells him to get a couple of popular kids to join and the rest will fall in line. Mr. Schuester then asks Coach Tanaka if he can talk to the team and he tentatively agrees only if Mr. Schuester will put a good word in with Emma for him.
In the Locker Room, Mr. Schuester asks them to join and there is no interest as the put derogatory names onto the signup sheet. He becomes disheartened until he hears Finn singing in the shower and has the realization that he is doing this to show kids a gift inside of them that they don't even know they have. He then has the "blackest moment of his life" as he plants his pot into Finn's locker who adamantly swears it is not his. Mr. Schuester threatens that he will get kicked of school or end up in prison and he says he expects more. This comment gets to Finn because he always expects more out of himself. This goes into a flashback of his childhood when his dad died and his mother raised him by himself. He is seen playing the drums and her happiest time when they ordered Emerald Dreams and his mom dates the man who comes. They sing together and Darren tells him that he has a gift and should keep with it. Darren then leaves with a young blond and his mother takes it really hard. Coming back from the flash back, Mr. Schuester says he can do six week detention and have it on his permanent record or join Glee Club.
Finn is then seen singing "You're the One That I Want" with the Glee Club. The club reacts strongly, especially Rachel who crosses the stage pushing aside the other member to get Finn. Mercedes reacts to this new position of background singer strongly, but Kurt and Mr. S convince her that this is better than before.
Mr. Schuester is then at home with his wife in their craft room. He mentions taking the club on a field trip and she is not happy with anything he is doing. She complains about money and he mentions the amount of money she wastes at Pottery Barn. She pushes him to become an accountant but he responds that his passion is teaching. She urges him to move on from his high school days.
At school, Mr. Schuester needs volunteers for the field trip and Emma quickly volunteers under the watch of Coach Tanaka. At the football field, Puck overhears Coach Tanaka yelling at Finn to choose between being a singer or a player. Puck questions Finn and he lies about needing to take care of his mother. At Carmel High School, Rachel and Finn talk. Rachel mentions that everybody thinks they will get together but Finn is dating Quinn (who is president of the celibacy club). Mr. S and Emma then share a snack while he discusses the problems of his marriage.
In the auditorium, Mr. Schuester tells the club how these are there competition, but he doesn't think they will be that hard to beat. Their Glee Club comes out with close to thirty members and stuns the crowd with their performance of "Rehab" complete with excellent dance moves.
Puck and the football team then confront Finn about lying that his mother has a prostrate instead of telling them he was in the Glee Club. They belt him with green paint from paintball guns.
Mr. Schuester comes home to his wife who congratulates him and tells him that she is pregnant. He is close to tears and the scene flashes to him telling the Glee Club that he is leaving. The team has mixed reactions, telling him they will work harder and Finn asks if he can quit now. He says he loved being their teacher but as an adult he has to do thing he doesn't want for his family and leaves them in the auditorium.
His emotional farewell leads to him speaking with Emma who asks if he will come see her tomorrow in the career center because he needs some guidance. Rachel and Finn are then talking by his locker as Quinn asks why they are talking and she lies that are science partners and she tells him he needs to not worry about others. At football practice he talks to Puck as Finn says it over. As a welcome back "present" they have locked Artie in a port a potty and they want to flip it over. Finn then saves Arty and when Puck asks him why he saves that loser he tells him they are all losers. He tells Puck that neither group can win without him and he then returns to Glee Club practice. On the way he sees Darren on the football field as Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" plays in the background.
In the auditorium, Rachel is yelling at the club at choreography. Finn apologizes and tells him he wants to change. He asks Arty to get the Jazz band, Mercedes to get costumes, Rachel for choreography and he will pick the music.
The next scene is Emma and Mr. Schuester and she plays him the 1993 performance of him winning the Nationals in Show Choir. He says that was the best moment of his life and other only other time he has been as happy is when Teri got pregnant. Emma questions what type of person he will be telling his child to be if he just gets a job for money instead of doing something that he loves.
He is then walking down the hallway out of the school when he faintly hears the music to "Don't Stop Believing" and in the auditorium the club (dressed in matching red shirts) sings the song. Arty is playing the guitar with the rest of the band and Rachel and Finn sing to each other. Mr. Schuester is in the audience watching along as well as Puck at the back of the auditorium. As Puck walks out we see Sue, Finn and another cheerleader watching from above. Mr. Schuester approaches them and tells them they would get a nine, but need a ten. He advises Rachel and Finn and tells him he is staying and the show closes with him telling them to take it from the top.
