The girls are on the rampage to make sure Spencer isn't framed for Alison's murder. First they confront Jenna on the tapes and find out they were made by Alison's boyfriend. Also, Jenna was legitimately involved with Toby, he didn't force himself on her. But before Alison bit the dust, she made Jenna promise to never tell anyone the truth.
Armed with that information, the girls move on to black-mailing Ian so that he can't frame Spencer.
Using a disposable cell phone, they contact email and tell him they have the compromising videos for sale and make an arrangement to meet. Then they enlist their cop friend Garrett to help them.
But then Jenna warns Ian that it's the girls who have been contacting him about the tapes, so he decides to pay a kid to meet them in place of him. Not only that, but Jenna is seeing Garrett, so it looks less like he really wants to help the girls.
At the same time, the girls have their individual lives to attend to. Hanna is hurting over Caleb while Mona is trying to keep the two apart. Lucas, in spite of his unrequited love for Hanna, doesn't approve of Mona's meddling, so he decides to take Caleb to Hanna to get things cleared up.
Ezra gets a job at Hollis. With his departure from Rosewood, he can make his relationship with Aria official. Aria's thrilled until his ex-fiancée shows up on the scene.
Spencer gets in the most trouble this episode. On her way to the meeting place the girls set up with Ian, she shares a moment with her sister. Suddenly they get hit by a car and, though they are both fine, one worries about the baby.
While Melissa recuperates in the hospital, Spencer returns to the church meeting place solo to retrieve Melissa's forgotten cell phone. The girls are trying to warn Spencer that Ian is on to them, but it's too late. Ian is waiting for her at the church and the two argue. Ian chases Spencer to the top of the church's bell tower and tries to push her off of it, saying everyone would think she committed suicide.
Lucky for Spencer, her phone pocket dials her pals, and the girls know to come to her rescue. While listening in, a hooded person shows up and pushes Ian off the bell tower and to his apparent demise. This could come across as murder two for Spencer, but when the cops show up, they can't find Ian's body.
